E-Ville was at the Ronald McDonald House

Tucked into the Queen Alexandria neighbourhood, just off Edmonton’s famous Whyte Avenue is the Ronald McDonald House. Here accommodation is offered to the sickest little people and their families who are from out of town and being treated in the Edmonton area. E-Ville Roller Derby spent Sunday cooking up a delicious brunch for all the families staying at the house as part of our leagues continued community outreach. Over eggs, bacon, fruit, and an assortment of yummy breakfast options our skaters got to learn more about each other (off the track), about the families that stay at the house and we got to tell a captivated audience about ROLLER DERBY.

What we took away from our experience is that even what seems like the smallest act of kindest such as cooking a buffet brunch can have a huge effect on a family’s day. Instead of wondering what to make for lunch the families are able to focus on giving care to their children. There is not a more heartbreaking challenge than your child being sick and we wanted to help the best we could during their stressful time.

There is no shortage of volunteer options at the Ronald McDonald house and we urge you to check out their website for more information. We guarantee you, you will get all the feels working to make life easier for all these grateful families. For more information about the Ronald McDonald House click here >>.
