The Gage Cup: Remembering Gage
Not too long after E-Ville was founded, Brandy "Stormy Sky" joined the league and often brought her son, Gage, along with her to practice. It didn't take long before Gage was cheering on all the skaters during drills and making sure they always had full water bottles.
Gage traveled with The E-Ville Dead for away games, often helping work the merch table and always proudly sporting his E-Ville T-shirt with his derby moniker "12 Gage" emblazoned across the back.
Gage was featured as the Fan of the Month for the Snow Brawl game on January 31st, 2009 in which his mother's team, the Black Gold Diggers, faced off against their nemesis, the Las Pistolitas, in the second game of the 2008/09 season.
It was just 5 months later that the league lost their young friend when his heart gave in following a serious asthma attack. Gage passed away on June 10th, 2009 at just 11 years old. He will always be in our hearts, in our memories, and he will always be present at our Championship game.
Every year at the Gage Cup, E-Ville raises funds in Gage’s name and donates them to a charitable cause, such as supporting the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton.
The E-Ville championship trophy is dedicated to Gage, his family, and his legacy within the league.
